Event Management Supports 2024 Commencement Celebrations
Graduation receptions are often the final moment where graduates and families mark their Columbia journey on campus. The Event Management team is a partner to schools in these celebratory toasts.
Every year, Columbia University's campus hosts Commencement Week ceremonies and receptions to recognize the incredible achievements of the graduating class.
While the location and programming for some 2024 events were a bit different than other years, the celebrations were just as joyful. Many events had to shift locations, set up, and logistics in a matter of just days. The Event Management team, together with Facilities and Operations colleagues in Public Safety, Operations, and Transportation, supported schools and department partners from planning through execution, responding to needs to ensure everyone had a great day.

Event Management facilitated 370 graduation related activities in May - small and large. From Baker Athletics Complex at 218 Street to Ancell Plaza at 116 Street, from sparkling water to bubbly champagne, Spotify playlists to Jazz bands - the Event Management team helped to support celebrations of all kinds.
The Catering team wow'd with past favorites like Cherry Blossom tart - cherries and ricotta cheese in a puff pastry - and introduced new twists to the menu, like Beef Barbacoa Taquitos and Thai Chicken Spring Rolls.
The Columbia Law School hosted their celebration at Faculty House - using all four floors of the venue and outdoor space - creating a truly special event for graduates and their guests. The featured brunch menu was pretty special too, with Breakfast Empanadas, Crustless Quiche, and Silver Dollar Pancake Skewers!
